Repair Guarantee
General Guarantee
J. K. Reese Designs will guarantee all jewelry we make, repair or sell for 1 year from the date it is shipped out to you unless otherwise noted below or when giving you an estimate. This means we guarantee such things as stones not falling out or becoming loose and the parts that we made or repaired will not break in the areas in which we worked.
Items Not Guaranteed:
1. Glued Items
2. Enameled Items
3. Lead Soldered Items
4. Gold or Rhodium Plating
5. Loss of any prong set stone that has 3 or less prongs
6. Loss of any round stone over ½ carat unless it is set in a six prong gold setting or a four prong Platinum setting.
7. Loss of any prong set stone unless it has the following number of prongs (Or unless they are set in Platinum).
We do not assume responsibility for the loss of a single diamond or colored gem stone above 1 carat. Stones 1 carat and above should be covered by the customer’s personal jewelry insurance policy.
8. Prong set stones that have thin prongs, missing prongs, or stones that are set crooked, leaving a much shorter prong on one side of the stone than the other.
9. Bead setting where the beads are badly worn or some beads are missing or stones that are set crooked, leaving part of the girdle of the stone to be sticking up beyond the surface of the metal.
10. Channel setting where either the channel is very thin, torn, not straight across the stones OR there is no support underneath the channels to hold them together. Example: No cross wires or support to keep the channel from pulling away leaving the stone to loosen up or fall out.
11. Bezel setting where the bezel is too thin, torn, or the stone is set crooked and not all of the stone is held in by the bezel.
Ring Sizing Guarantee
1. If we size the customer’s actual finger and the size is incorrect, we will resize the customer’s ring at No Charge within 30 days from the date of delivery. If we did not get to size the customer’s finger and the ring was either a casting or special order, we will resize the ring once at no charge, within 30 days of the delivery date from our location or the date it was shipped from us back to you.
2. If we size a ring to the customer’s requested size and the size is incorrect, we will charge again to resize the ring.
3. We can only guarantee our ring sizing from the customer’s finger. We can not be given another ring to go by for the size and be accurate.
4. The ring size on a ring will not change, but because a customer’s finger can become larger or smaller because of diet, medication, the weather or weight change, we can only guarantee ring sizings for 30 days from the date of delivery.
Tightening and Checking Guarantee
1. Tightening stones: If stones need to be tightened and we do the work involved to tighten them, the piece will carry our guarantee against stone loss as long as the stones are set as described above. Without the estimate approval to tighten the stones, we will not be able to warranty the stones against loss.
2. Checking Links: When asked to “check links” on rivets, chains, bracelets, clasps, etc., we can not guarantee their loss or durability. Many items can not be checked without taking them completely apart. This will cause the item to require repair due to the disassembly. Many items that are wearing “ok” today may have a problem days or weeks later. We can only guarantee items that we actually repair, not ones that are visually inspected.
3. Re-tipped prongs on stones: We can only guarantee the loss of a stone when we re-tip or re-prong all of the prongs we deem necessary to repair. If the customer only approves the minimum number of tips or prongs to be repaired, only that tip or prong work can be guaranteed, not the stone from loss.
Gem and Diamond Guarantee
1. No stone, including a diamond, can be guaranteed not to break, chip, scratch, or fracture. We strongly suggest insuring your jewelry.
2. Stones from the customer that are already damaged, chipped, broken, or have large inclusions or imperfections cannot be guaranteed. We will inform you of the condition of these items before proceeding with the repair work or setting of stones.
Watch Repair Guarantee
All watch repairs are guaranteed, for work that we have done, for 1 year from the date of delivery unless otherwise noted below or when the estimate is given.
• We are unable to warranty watch work if the watch is unable to seal out water and dust.
• All watch batteries have a 2 year replacement. If the battery should die within two years of installation, we will replace it for free!
• We do not guarantee any watch to be water resistant unless a water pressure test is passed after battery replacement. (Additional fee for testing)
NO WATCH IS “WATERPROOF” . All water resistance ratings are based on laboratory pressure tests comparable to a swimmer or diver sitting still at that pressure level. Movement and other environmental changes may challenge or defeat the water protection features of a water resistant watch.
The ability of a watch to stay water resistant as it ages changes. The seals that prevent water from entering the watch will weaken and fail with age. For use in water, water resistant watches should be pressure checked every year. The seals should be replaced at least every two or three years.
On a battery change for a watch with a WR30m or higher, a pressure test will be needed to validate the water resistance rating. Without this test the water resistance level cannot be verified. Over time, gaskets and seals can wear causing lower resistance to water leakage. With this test a jeweler/watchmaker can see if those seals need servicing.
Watches used for diving should have a water pressure test done every six months or prior to each dive trip to ensure water resistance levels.
Clock Repair Guarantee
All clock repairs are guaranteed, for work that we have done, for 1 year from the date of delivery unless otherwise noted below or when the estimate is given.
• We do not repair nor guarantee clock cases.
